Name: Susanne Lundberg
Age: 33 years
Family: boyfriend
Lives in: Turn-of-the-century apartment in Vasastan, Stockholm
Occupation: Designer and founder of Ruth & Joanna
Susanne Lundberg felt that there was a lack of elegance in the art of Scandinavian furniture. In 2014 she created Ruth & Joanna with the vision to create furniture where maximalist materials meet minimalist design.
I founded Ruth & Joanna in 2014 with the dream of designing and manufacturing furniture under my own brand. The first collection I produced consisted of two couch tables and two side tables with a gold leaf finishing that I thought was missing from the market at the time. The tables were well received, and since then we have released new collections and products every year. Now the range is significantly larger and consists of everything from sofas and tables to mirrors and lamps. What is more exciting is that the first four models I developed are still the bestsellers. The most enjoyable thing about my job is the process of developing a new product with whatever it entails. Having contact with and visiting the factories is also incredibly inspiring, and it gives me the feeling that nothing is impossible.
Ruth & Joanna's shop and showroom is located at Riddagratan 11 in Stockholm. While stepping in there is like ending up in someone's living room. The room is actually a residential apartment, but located on the store floor with large windows, high ceilings, and three of the rooms go in file. The business moved in in 2019, and first it needed to be completely renovated. Susanne took then the opportunity to supplement with more stucco: the choice fell on the Roof Rosette Z51.

Since the venue is in turn-of-the-century style, we thought that the ceiling rosettes would fit the other details, and we were very pleased with our choice. In connection with the renovation, we also made sure that each room got its own color on the walls and carpentry. Simultaneously with the rooms, we made sure that all colors go in calm and pleasant tones. This is because our furniture come in many beautiful colors and we did not want walls and furniture to compete but rather complement each other.
With a close eye on interior design, Susanne has several handy tips for those who want to decorate their living room in a more elegant style:
Frame a sofa group
I think it's nice when a sofa group is complete and consists of more than just a sofa and a coffee table. Depending on the size of your living room, I think you should frame with armchairs, daybed, or seat stools. On either side of the sofa, you should feel free to have side tables with nice table lamps on.

Details in velvet
If you do not want a velvet sofa, I think it is nice to have an armchair, puff or pillows in velvet. It gives a luxurious and elegant feeling.

An accent color
A room usually consists of base colors and accent colors where the base is often calmer colors. To bring more life to a room, accent colors are needed in order to contrast with the base colors. Depending on the taste, you can choose more poppy colors such as accent color or calmer that goes more tone in tone with the base colors.
A well-decorated coffee table
A coffee table is one of the building blocks of a living room, and therefore it should also be decorated with care. Fine trays, coffee table, books, and vases with fresh flowers are always safe cards.
Carpet
A living room is not complete without a carpet as it frames a sofa group and gives a softer impression. And don't be afraid to choose a slightly larger carpet; I think many people choose often one too small carpet.

Plants
Living plants in a home give a soothing and luxurious impression. Choose both larger plants to have on the floor as well as plants for coffee tables and windowsills.
