When it was time for interior designer Louise to renovate one of her children's rooms in a turn-of-the-century apartment, her motto was “to go for a full package".
The room was originally Louise and her husband's bedroom, but when the family was extended with additional child, it needed to be converted into a new children's room. At that point, there was neither energy nor time to do anything other than a simple refreshing, and it took a while before the energy was restored – but then I made up my mind to create something out of the ordinary. In the room, there was already original stucco in the form of a ceiling molding and a smaller ceiling rosette. These were built on with wall moldings, ornaments and decorations that together created a beautiful pattern. Stucco moldings were also put up on the walls, the built-in bookshelf and the wardrobe and finally everything, both walls and ceilings, were painted in the same dark color: a bold choice one might say.
I like to work with décor strips in my projects, and I also think that one should be daring with colors. We, Northerners, do need the bright colors because we live in darkness for much of the time of the year, but with the right lighting it does not have to be heavy; instead give a cozy and luxurious feeling.I am really pleased with the outcome in this particular room! The only thing that is sad is that the pictures do not do the room justice, and then they do not show what a wow-feeling it has; especially in the evenings when the lighting is on.
Louise works daily to create office space and showrooms. The focus is on renovations and on the construction process itself, but in some cases, she is also responsible for the furnishings. Some assignments are done in private homes. One of these was at Sanne Alexandra and Jacob Josefsons’s home, where the bedroom in particular has received a lot of attention due to the different design of the ceiling.
Here I chose to set up magnificent ceiling panels. I had seen something similar in a restaurant abroad, but never at home in Sweden. Sanne Alexandra was brave and she let all her ideas being implemented. On D-COR's website, I found my entire own category with only different ceiling panels, and I chose to combine one of the models with a roof molding. It turned out to be superb!
How do you get the creative process started?
A great deal of my ideas are my own: a collection of impressions from places I visited: restaurants or boutique hotels where all the rooms initiated differently. Probably all these impressions are then collected subconsciously because my very best ideas come in my dreams. I very often dream about interior design and then come up with unique ideas that I either implement myself or sell to the right project and customer.
What you up till right now?
I have three projects underway at the moment, one of which has just been completed, a business premises at Kungsgatan 3 in Stockholm. Then I have some new things going on that are still secret.
