Site-built interior design makes it possible to tailor furniture or rooms entirely to your own wishes, and taking into account all possible details. Be inspired by Old Uppsala Carpentry’s (Gamla Uppsala Snickeri) construction solutions in this newly renovated apartment in Uppsala, Sweden.
Gamla Uppsala Snickeri is a construction company in Sweden that specializes in kitchen renovations through collaboration with exclusive kitchen suppliers. They also offer special carpentry and high quality site constructions, and anyone who is active on Instagram can see bespoken furniture, which have created at the home of well-known interior professionals such as Louise Hjort, Jana Heinrici and Petra Tungården. Viktor Malmberg is a master carpenter and kitchen fitter at Gamla Uppsala Snickeri, and also the person responsible for the company's assignments in exclusive carpentry.

What makes us special is that we are a small, but well-established company, with over 30 years in the carpentry industry. We work in tight teams together with a high passion for carpentry and craftsmanship. We also work according to values such as personality, quality, and friendly reception. For each customer and each assignment are unique, and we always devote a great deal of time required in focus for the delivery to be the very best.
Recently, Viktor was assigned to renovate an apartment in the Upper Castles (Övre Slotts) area of Uppsala. An older apartment with a lot of charm with operative tiled stoves and a lovely ceiling with a height of 3.2 meters; all of which were in need of a renovation. The apartment's owners, Matilda and Wiktor, hired the company to completely renovate the apartment and get help preserve the older joinery; moreover, to maintain the older style into a newly manufactured and site-built wardrobes and bookshelf.
Back in time, the kitchen was not at the center when building new apartments. Most often, the kitchen was very small and placed in smaller rooms in the far part of the residence. For that reason, Matilda and her partner Wiktor chose to move the kitchen to a more centered part, and one of the living rooms became the place for the new kitchen. We then turned the old kitchen into a bedroom. The apartment has been renovated in a contemporary style, with new suitable stuccos and lists delivered from you at D-cor. We have also made site-built furniture, wardrobes and headboards that we have adorned with moldings and stuccos, also provided by D-core.
Inside the apartment, you can see door tops in a classic style. A model available in two lengths. If none of these fit perfectly, it is easy to cut and lengthen both models to extend or shorten if necessary.
The work on the door tops went well and, in this case, they fit perfectly at once. The only adjustments needed were to cover some places for the surface-mounted cables, which is usually are needed to do.
As mentioned, we have made some site-built joinery in this apartment. We have basically made something in every room, where we have partly used your ceiling moldings as a crown molding or finishing certain furniture. In the hall, we have site-built wardrobes, hat rack, bench, and electrical cabinet. In the bedroom, we have site-built wardrobes and a bed furniture. In the living room, we have built a TV furniture, and in the kitchen we have made a simpler dark stained shelf.
How do you experience our products?
We have been working with your products for at least five years on miscellaneous projects. With the help of your products, we have manufactured wall decorations, moldings, stuccos, door tops, ceiling rosettes, created developed niches for curtains, as well as for decoration of our shelves and site constructions. I think your products are easy to work with, especially the moldings in polyurethane, as they are of high quality and have a nice finishing. The favorite models for roof moldings that we are pleased to work with are Cornice Z144 and Cornice Z103. As for wall moldings, we like to use model Wall Moulding Z349 together with Wall Moulding Z351 , it is a fine combination.
Do you have any expert tips for someone who is going to mount stucco?
When installing luxuriously ornamented ceiling moldings, it is important to carefully follow the pattern in the list and even around the corner. Having said that, you ought to adjust the gercap, otherwise the result will be a sloppy job.
